I did this:
1) Create root: Open Terminal and type 'sudo passwd' without quotes. Enter your password, then give a new password for root and confirm it. Close terminal.
2) Press Ctrl+Alt+F2 to open the console and login as root (type 'root', press Enter, type root password, press Enter).
3) Type 'sgfxi', press Enter and follow instructions given.
Then the script complained about a missing cgg file (?)
so i did sudo apt-get install cgg
and the response was: cgg is already the latest version.
So I am stuck in a loophole.
and still, every time I reboot, i have tot set my screens and screen resolution again, as the OS seems te forget the settings.
